5 Reason to Visit Rocky Point this Summer

July 7, 2018

Man it's hot out there.  We're all looking for a place to cool off and find some R&R this summer, and I don't mean in the air conditioning of your home, car, or office.  Well don't sweat it out, here's 5 reasons to visit Rocky Point this summer.

1. Exchange Rate

Right now you get about 19 Mexican Peso to 1 dollar which means more burrito for your buck.  In fact just to put in perspective a Mexican adult man makes the equivalent of about 10 american dollars a day.  When we were there last, we went in for dinner and a nice guy had washed our windshield and wheels.  I gave him 200 pesos and the look on his face was so telling.  It only meant 10 buck to me, but that was his day's wage. It felt good to be able to help him out like that.

2. So Delicious

We've eaten at several restaurants in Rocky Point and love the local cuisine.  My wife is a Mexican food fanatic and the tacos and agua frescas are tough to beat.  There are so many good places downtown along the main drag as well as closer to the resorts.  For an extra bit of local flavor, stop off at one of the supermarkets and try some of the Mexican treats.  Cookies, crackers, cakes, are all a bit different than our over sweetened american treats.

3. Cool Kids

Man these Arizona summers get too hot even if you have a pool right in your back yard.  Our kids love the more mild temps in Rocky Point and the pools at Las Palomas resort are the activity of choice.  Even though it's a bit more humid, the lower temps and cool pools make for a much more comfortable summer.  I like the lazy river personally as long as I remember to keep up on my sunscreen and not come home red as a lobster, and the kids pool is great for my little ones to splash around safely in.

4. Connecting with Nature

Something about relaxing on the beach and feeling the sand against your skin, just rejuvenates and recharges.  The nice thing is that everyone connects with nature at the beach in their own way.  Mom likes to do some yoga, or mediate, I personally love to put on the snorkel and mask and explore "a whole new world"( sing like the Little Mermaid), an the kids seem to be able to spend hours finding shells, digging for buried treasure, and building sand castles.  However you choose, these beaches in my opinion are by far better than the over crowded beaches in California and way closer.

5 Stay & Play

For me accommodations are an important consideration when deciding where to go.  A comfortable bed and proximity to all the action is what I look for.  Las Palomas Resort is exactly that.  Realize that not all units are the same, though they are run by the same hotel rental pool.  They are all owned privately, so each one has a few unique features.  The Newman Rental Properties units include a few extras that make it even a little sweeter.  Coronado 508 is our largest unit with 4 beds and 4 baths with an ocean front patio that wraps around the whole unit.  It's huge, and the hammock and fire place out there make it so nice to hang out and listen to the roar of the ocean both day and night.  Kids love the legacy gaming system we put in the 2 single beds room, and the teenagers rock the bluetooth sound system all day.  They were so popular we put them in all our units.

There's way more reasons why Rocky Point Mexico is an awesome Summer vacation, but these are just a few why we love spending the dog days of summer at Las Palomas.
