Spring break is just around the corner. If you haven’t got your plans set for Rocky Point you may already be out of time, but I may have some connections for you if you don't. Las Palomas resort is Puerto Peñasco’s most popular resort for spring breakers for several reasons: beach front access, amazing accommodations, and that’s where the party is at. Rocky Point has depended on this popular time of year to stimulate their economy and generate return visits. So whether it’s your first time or part of your annual precursor to summer, I’ve got three tips to make your Spring Break fun and problem free.
1. Carry a little cash
Don't carry a lot of cash. $40-$100 is a pretty good amount where you can buy the food, souvenirs and activities you want for the day with maybe a little spare change. You don't want to carry your whole wad or too much, that can make you an easy target for someone desperate, and there are some pretty desperate people in Mexico. You might find yourself in an unfortunate position too where the local police may have a beef with you for one reason or another. While it isn't encouraged to pay off the police, article here, this is a long standing part of Mexican culture and $40 may save you a lengthy and costly visit to the police station.
2. Keep your nose clean
Some spring breakers get a little crazy and forget they are guests in a foreign country. The Bill of Rights doesn't apply in Mexico and they are happy to throw rowdy Americans in the slammer for disorderly conduct. Just ask my buddy that got caught by the side of the road, drunk and with a broken down car. The local police were not very understanding or helpful, other than let him sober up in a Mexican jail for a few days until he could get enough money together to get out. Fighting, drunkenness, stealing, and public lewdness are sure fire ways to get locked up, so just keep your nose clean and have a good time.
3. Stay with your group
There is strength in numbers. Whether you're a single guy or a group of ladies looking for some fun in the Spring sun, the reality of human trafficking around the world is horrifying. Victims are often lured by romantic relationships or drugged in social settings. Moral of the story is that Spring Fling may be more than you bargained for, and don't ever accept a drink from someone you don't know or where the drink came from. Staying with your group will help you make safe decisions and ensure you'll come home with a load of great memories instead of not at all.
The best way to enjoy the Spring sandy beaches along the Sea of Cortez is to stay at the Las Palomas Resort in Rocky Point. They sell out pretty quickly, but I've got a connection to several ocean view condos varying in size from 1 bedroom to 4 bedroom. Check with Emily, the booking agent at Newman rental properties to get one of their units at Las Palomas Resort booked. She's awesome to work with and mention this blog for a 10% discount when you call her at 602-529-8085. Enjoy!
